Scarlet

A new Kim Hargreaves book is out, Scarlet. It still doesn't beat the older books like Precious or Heartfelt or my favorite, Thrown Together, but it does have some beautiful patterns, see below....

Leaf
Moonstone
Hawk
Tribe
Thorn
Scout
I particularly love Thorn, it reminds me of this pattern from the book Precious:

Fay
On the whole her style remains very classy even when it has a more rustic feel...

F.O. but this one's for me!

For the first time in a very long while I have finished a project for myself! This scarf and hat are made with yarn my parents got me a while ago from the mountains, I love the color, and I kind of really needed a matching scarf and hat...yup yup, happy with the results!

Work in progress...

This is a sweater I've been working on lately...the yarn was a gift, it's a lovely, soft wool-acrylic blend and I love the color even though I am a little afraid that it might hide the details of the sweater a little...we'll see once it's done!
I'm working at six different projects right now. SIX. Someone has to stop me from starting new things before finishing the old...
In other news, fall is definitely here, in all its glorious beauty:

SEI.

...and I finally got to see the exhibit on fashion in Italy since 1861, at La Venaria...and I loved it. It was divided in different periods and was focused on the way society, womens role in society, historical events, art, literature, movies, the show business etc all have their influence on fashion. Particularly beautiful were the pieces from the late 1800's and the twenties...particularly fascinating were the clothes designed (and signed!) by famous futurist artists like Giacomo Balla and Fortunato Depero.

Look at the cool light effects in the fountains! They are either new or I never noticed them before...(maybe because I always left before it started to get dark).

Guardate che fighe le fontane illuminate! O sono una novità, oppure non me ne ero mai accorta...(forse perchè finora me ne son sempre andata via prima che iniziasse a diventare buio).

An intense weekend

This weekend was pretty intense. Friday evening we drove for 2 hrs (I wasn't the one driving actually)...

...to go see this crazy guy....
...per andare a vedere questo curioso individuo...

Needless to say, the concert was amazing. I'm glad I brought my good camera even though I was initially worried for it's safety...nothing happened to it other than being put to good use, and there were people at the concert with cameras twice the size as mine!

Saturday I studied all day and then, in the late afternoon, my mom and I left for this beautiful place. These are some pictures I took saturday evening...

(Just look at the painted ceilings inside this building!)
(Guardate che soffiti in questo palazzo!)

On sunday morning we woke up really early to set up our booth in the freezing cold (literally freezing) for the annual fair that is held in Cherasco with old and ancient toys and handmade/crafted whatever. (I found it quite entertaining to go look through the booths that sold old barbies trying to figure out which ones were from my era...aaaah the nineties!).
For the first time in a long while I can say I am really satisfied with how this fair went, I sold lots and lots of things (probably also thanks to the unexpected freezing cold weather that made my warm wooly garments very attractive to potential customers) and the only problem is that now I have to really start finishing some projects because I am running out of garments to sell!

This morning we got a glimpse of fall...

...but it didn't last long. And the trees aren't really starting to turn yet...I must say, even though I love summer, this prolonged version of it is kind of making me long for a real autumn.
